Mark Group has reached a milestone in a three year contract with Plymouth Community Homes, by fitting its 1000th installation of loft insulation for the social housing provider’s domestic properties, across its housing stock of approximately 15,000 homes.

The contract will see Mark Group improving the comfort of up to 5,000 homes in total by reducing energy consumption and fuel costs for the residents by installing loft insulation – up to £180 per year off their energy bills according to the Energy Saving Trust*.

mark-group-logo“Plymouth Community Homes aims to provide housing which is desirable and sustainable and is constantly striving to improve and upgrade the energy efficiency of its residents’ housing,” explains Melvin Thompson, gas installation contract manager, Plymouth Community Homes.

“We’ve already conducted a customer satisfaction survey for the first phase and our tenants’ overall satisfaction was rated at 98% (76% of tenants were ‘very satisfied’) which is excellent. I would recommend Mark Group to anyone.”
Up to 40% of all heat loss in a home is lost through the roof, meaning that energy savings can be easily made by retrospectively fitting loft insulation into homes.

plymouth-community-homes“Reaching 1,000 homes, especially at this time of year, means that many of the tenants will have warmer, more energy efficient homes this winter,” said Anna Cousins, business development manager, Mark Group.

Loft insulation should be around 270mm in thickness to provide satisfactory energy savings for a property.
