The residential owner and management company behind East Village, Get Living London has been named the Property Newcomer of the Year at last night’s RESI awards. Established in May 2013, Get Living London launched with an aim to make renting in London a better experience and to meet the city’s growing demand for high quality rental accommodation.
- Get Living London wins Property Newcomer of the Year
- East Village is named Development of the Year
- In February, East Village was named ‘Best New Place to Live’ at the London Planning Awards and also received the Mayor’s Award for Planning Excellence
- Get Living London has shaken up the private rental sector by guaranteeing no fees or hidden costs, on-site property management seven days a week and long-term tenancies of one to three years
- The former London 2012 Athlete’s Village is now home to over 500 residents
The RESI Awards, which celebrate the residential property market and its successes of the year, recognise companies with an innovative approach to providing housing. The news of the award win, which comes as Get Living London enters its second year, demonstrates its position as a leader in its field. Having set out with an offer of straightforward rentals, all homes are available to rent with no fees or hidden costs; long-term tenancies of one to three years and with the flexibility of resident-only break clauses. With no fees to budget for, residents are able to put the saved money towards something more enjoyable; perhaps a shopping trip to nearby Westfield. Residents also benefit from a direct relationship with the Get Living London team who are based at East Village7 days a week to quickly respond to residents’ needs.
Delancey, one half of the joint venture that owns Get Living London with Qatari Diar Real Estate Development Company, were also celebrating as founder and CEO, Jamie Ritblat, scooped the prestigious ‘Personality of the Year’ award.
After the departure of the world’s athletic elite from the Olympic Park, the ODA got to work fitting out the apartments – adding kitchens and removing temporary walls which had been added to facilitate additional bedrooms for the athletes. The first homes were handed over to Get Living London from the ODA in early November 2013. Get Living London has been adding the final touches to the homes by installing wardrobes and fitting curtains and blinds before the first residents moved in on 26 November; another key step in the transformation of the first legacy neighbourhood from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Through partnerships with Hemmingway Design, Hyperoptic and Sky TV, Get Living London has been able to offer highly competitive resident privilege packages such as free 20Mbps fibre broadband service with evening and weekend phone calls, half price discounts on Sky TVs Entertainment pack and high-end furniture packages at no extra cost.
At the end of February 2014, Get Living London celebrated an important milestone as renters Rosie Sperring and Jamie Worth moved into the 100th property to be occupied. By the time the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park re-opened in early April, East Village was showing the true signs of a vibrant community, boasting unparalleled access to London Aquatics Centre, Copper Box Arena, and Lee Valley VeloPark as well as beautiful parklands, fountains, play areas and waterways. With all of the Get Living London homes situated only a five minute walk from Westfield Shopping Centre, Sir Ludwig Guttmann Health Centre and Chobham Academy; the area has truly come to life in the wake of the Olympics with both residents and visitors anticipating the opening of 30 shops, cafes and bars later in the year.
Homes at East Village have been designed to suit all with 1 and 2-bedroom apartments for young professionals and couples and 3 and 4-bedroom apartments and townhouses for sharers and families. Get Living London homes start from £340 per week for a 1 bedroom apartment, £395 per week for a 2 bedroom apartment, £485 per week for a 3 bedroom apartment, and £590 per week for a 4 bedroom townhouse.
East Village apartments are proud to set new standards for eco-friendly living in London:
- Attractive ‘green roofs’ that absorb rain and CO2 and attract a broad variety of native insects and birds shelter each apartment building. These roofs have the further advantages of keeping the apartments warm in summer and cool in winter as well as reducing noise pollution.
- A grey water recycling system in each apartment captures water from sinks and showers to be used again for irrigating the plants and trees across the East Village.
- Every home meets the highest levels of sustainability and has achieved Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 – the UK’s single largest development to meet this standard
- The homes all have access to green energy through power generated at the East Village Energy Centre.
