In October 2007, we reported on the launch of Gran Monovar Ecociudad, near Alicante, Costa Blanca, Spain. Now two months later, we bring you the latest installment of our regular progress report. In summary the urbanization works continue at a good pace and the administrative process is going as planned, getting the licenses from the town hall for the construction of the first phase of homes to be built. A new web site in English will be operational in January, and a showhouse will open its doors in May 2008.
Site preparation
Plans for the rainwater collection system for the urbanization have been presented and approved. This system will reinforce the water savings measurements.
The waste-water collection system is 60% completed. HDPE pipes are being used, which are ecological in their production (no emission of dioxins), flexible and leak resistant to avoid contamination of the aquifers.
Legal and administrative
Building licenses for the first phase were granted by the town hall on 03 December 2007, as expected. This means that the building of the first houses can begin in the first quarter of 2008, as planned.
Showhouse
The plans for the showhouse has been presented and approved. It will be built by May 2008, providing a home in which clients can see and touch the design aspects and eco-features that are being delivered.
Commercial
Susan Cornelia Libal has joined the project to reinforce the sales staff and to help the developer cope with the continuously growing demand. The sales team is currently formed by four people: Loli, Susan, Fredrik and Rafael, all of them fluent in English in order to give the best advice to clients.
Marketing
A new and more complete website in English is expected to be operational in January 2008. The site will provide clients with specific information about the project: the homes, the status of the urbanization works and the features of the eco-city.
