In October 2007, we reported on the launch of Gran Monovar Ecociudad, near Alicante, Costa Blanca, Spain. Now four months later, we bring you the latest installment of our regular progress report.

Urbanization works

Work on the perimeter access road (Camino de Matamoros) has started, widening it to 14 meters and improving substantially the access to Gran Monovar when the works are finished.

The water drainage works that started several weeks ago are now almost completed - 80% done.

The rainwater collection system works have been started (30% executed). This system will decrease substantially the water consumption in the communal areas of Gran Monovar.

Despite of the fact that the first homes will not be finished for about 20 months, the developer is already dealing with the supply contracts of electricity (Iberdrola) and phones lines and broadband (Telefónica)

In general terms, the works are going as planned and the developer expects to commence the building of the first homes in the coming weeks.

Sales and Marketing

The provisional sales office is operational and more and more comfortable to welcome the increasing number of visitors and clients. The developer expects to remain in this provisional sales office for at least one year until the definitive sales office is ready (in the old finca house, currently undergoing restoration).

The developer has started the building of the showhouse with the beginning of the first phase and expects to have it ready during the course of the summer. The showhouse will be a perfect tool to show the eco-features of the homes, the intelligent home system and the finishing quality and style of the homes.

Stimulus & Response has been appointed as the developer’s communication agency in UK and Ireland and the team is developing a plan to promote Gran Monovar in the British and Irish media.

Other

The construction of the municipal indoor swimming pool, located a five-minute walk from Gran Monvar are going very well, and this will be finished before the first homes of Gran Monvar are delivered. This is in addition to the sports and leisure facilities within Gran Monvar that include communal pools and gardens as well as sports courts (paddle-tennis, basketball, and football and so on), and complete the high quality and inexpensive municipal sports facilities of Monovar, available to everyone in Monovar.
