round 'em up

root mounted solar panel

A number of ‘cowboy’ solar power panel companies are conning often elderly people into paying more for installations that either won't work or won't save them the money promised.

Several cases of misselling have been reported in recent months to the police and trading standards officers. Reputable companies should be members of the REAL Assurance Scheme (Renewable Energy Association), and/or the Solar Trade Association. Check for REIGA (Renewable Energy Installation Guarantee Association) accreditation too. The industry-backed scheme provides a free 10-year installation guarantee.
